Mobile Cinema Reloaded

Helsinki Walk

Helsinki und Nelimarkka Screening

A series of 13 videos, dealing with inside and outside, of Germany based artists, are shown on a big screen in Maastricht maybe in an off space or gallery space and displayed on a small tablet which the artists Annegret Bleisteiner carries in a special bag performing with the bag. She walks through the city and tries to create encounters with the city of Maastricht and its people

The small screen is like a (Smartphone-)prosthesis and has the same format as the streaming platforms where artists upload their videos nowadays, but people can watch them on my body and talk to me. I want to trigger discussions about video art, the digitalisation of artistic work, small screens in public space versus big ones in the Museum, the (political, social, architectural) context in which the films are shown, etc. The Mobile Cinema Walk is documented from its start Munich train station to Maastricht Train station by an accompanying photographer whose pictures are then uploaded onto my Facebook and Instagram account:. I create a visual circuit involving real and virtual worlds that may lead to new ways of perception, of small size videos and also of the videos shown on the big screen. The project was accompanied by Phoebe Lesch in Finland an Italy.
Mobile Cinema Reloaded aims to connect young artists from Munich and Maastricht. Thus in January 2020 there will be an open call in the Maastricht Academy of fine Arts and design to participate in my project with a video work dealing with inside outside. In April I am going to do studio visits to choose two videos that will be shown in Munich 2020. A loop of the whole artists in Maastricht who want to participate is shown in Maastricht Academy on a big screen two weeks before I arrive. There will be an open call to participate in Mobile Cinema Reloaded. Two videos are selected and I bring them back in by red bag to Germany and those who have been selected are shown in Munich on a big Screen.(in Karin Wimmer Digital Art Space or platform munich)
